If you have music performance ability, but little or no theory or music notation knowledge, then our Certificate IV in Music Industry (Performance) is for you.

Course outcomes

You will have one-to-one tuition on your instrument/voice, perform contemporary and commercial music in bands, and learn music fundamentals (theory, aural, reading, keyboard). Push your own boundaries by singing in a vocal ensemble, learn music technology, and develop networking/business skills.

Our knowledgeable teachers have industry experience and they’re keen to pass their expert knowledge and insights onto you. Enjoy learning in our modern facilities that include recording studios, computer laboratories, rehearsal spaces and performance theatres.

You will have access to rehearsal rooms set up with drum kits, piano, PA and amplifiers, and computer laboratories that are equipped with the full complement of music software. Our theatre spaces are equipped with excellent sound and lighting, as well as skilled student operators that support your every performance.

Assessment

You will be required to perform regularly and your assessment will include a combination of hands on practical and theoretical tasks.

Recognition of Prior Learning

You can seek RPL where your work or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. Academic Credit is granted on a case-by-case basis, according to our Academic Credit policy and associated procedures. Applications for Academic Credit will be assessed by relevant Melbourne Polytechnic academics and where appropriate, industry experts.
